dog lovers

Postby snowguy4 » Wed Nov 04, 2009 9:56 am

There is a dog that needs a loving home. She is part rot and part chow, really sweet, good with other dogs, and lovable. She has some hip problems so she is a little slow moving around but still gets exited when you get the leash out for walks or go into the yard for her to sniff around. It is not arthritis so she is not in pain and there is no medical bills or vet visits for her problem it has been an ongoing thing she is just slow. Her name is Mona and right now she is living on a porch and needs a home to be in. I myself am a dog lover and would like to adopt her but am not in the position that I can. If someone does not take her she is going to be put down and I do not want that to happen. Please if anyone is willing to take her into a good home or knows someone please let me know. I would like to but it tells me the image is to big. I have to figure out how to size it down to put it up and I am not real good with that type of stuff. I will get one up by tomorrow

What do you mean she is living on a porch? Are you sure she should not be looked at by a Vet?

OP, for now just paste the URL of the photo as if it were just text. Good luck!

Not directed at the OP or anybody in particular, but people who move somewhere for a season or who just tend to move a lot into shared housing, well, it can be great and all but having a pet makes it soooo much harder and option-limiting. Please make sure when you get a pet that you understand the long term commitment it involves. Thank you.

Ide like to know a little more about her hip problems. How old is she? Has she been XRAYed for Displaysia? If its not Arthritis then there needs to be some underlined problem and the dog should prbably be on Gluclose or Rimidyl, etc.

I agree with shifty. A pet is a long term commitment, that means if they get sick, or are in pain, it is up to the owner to control their quality of life. For how ever many years it takes.

Arthritis is not really a diagnosis. There are many causes of arthritis and they are all treated specifically.

It is going to bother me tonight to know that some dog is left on a porch at night instead of being in the warm, in the house. Maybe we can find it a foster home, call Whitmore Shelter. I think posting this was a good first step. Thanks.

^^^^^So true. I have been sans pets for years now because of my lifestyle and housing. Its a huge and serious commitment.
Well said Shifty.

Well said Shifty. The moving excuse just doesnt make sense. Move to a place that can take the pet!

Usually the animals are never trained well enough in the first place to be TRUELY enjoyed...

Dont forget about the Rottweiler rescue groups alot of them have somthing called the Rottweiler Railroad where people who volunteer that love Rotties will start a group pickup and get the dog to his required destination, even if hes only half breed.

*Says a little prayer*

Sorry I should have been a little more specific about her problems and where she is. It is, get ready for this as it may be confusing but, my girlfriends moms boyfriends daughters dog. She moved away to got to college and could not take her and he lives in a place that does not allow dogs. Now we are all a little upset at her for neglecting it so much however my girlfriends mom has taken it in and it lives in the back porch that is covered but still not a great place for a dog. She will not let it in the house though because her son (my girlfriends brother) is extremely allergic.
I would take her but move a lot and right now live in the barracks of a firehouse so I cant have her. My girlfriend is in mammoth where I will be shortly and it is a place that does not allow pets. We would have got a place that did had we known Mona would be without a home but it is to late now we even tried to plead with the landlord to allow her. The dog is in southern california so it is not deathly cold outside and she is covered but again not an ideal place for a dog to live. She doesn't get much human contact except the few walks she gets a day and it breaks my heart she sits all alone most of the day.
She has had many vet visits thanks to Danny (the father of the daughter that is neglecting the dog) and the vets told him there was nothing that could be done. I believe he took her to three different vets and they all said about the same thing. Her joints are just bad and dont work correctly. She is 9 years old.

Aw, she's got a sweet face. Sure hope you can find her a home.

Thanks for the clarification. That should put the second-guessers to rest. :P
