Made 1 more trip to lakes basin. Best it's been all season for me. Morning and evening was getting bit on just about every cast. Nothing more than pan sized stockers but was fun. Saw a brookie cruising the shore.

Turned belly up a few times before swimming away. There weren't many people fishing the area and nobody had hooked it prior to it appearing. I don't think it survived the way it was acting.

Also saw a coyote cross the road with a fish in its mouth. Have seen bears & eagles on previous trips. All in all great last trip of the fishing season.

Didn't see any Kayak's either. The floaters I saw were big fat dead ready to explode Stripers. I think I'm going to try Striper Bill's advice and fish the auqaduct in the next few days.

I don't usually share this kind of secret, but since nobody else reads fishing post we are probably safe. Slow troll this baby on your downrigger.

That thing is a trophy Large Mouth killer. You have to rig it with a trailing trap hook but not mess up its jointed swimming qualities. Not cheap. This is one of those lures that you go swimming for when it gets snagged on the bottom. :)

Yeah, similar to watching a 'hoo take your $50 trolling lure. It hurts. But there's no goin after that.

I used a similar lure to the one you posted for calicos at Cedros, but a yellow grabbed it and kelped me. I think one size smaller and rainbow [trote] colored, and w/o the lip. You know, just using whatever funky lure you can pull out of the box, to see if you can make it work. It worked for a while. I was bummed it was gone.

How about this ? This one is about 30% smaller.

This one is a Calico killer. As well as fresh water Bass killer. I have even caught Albacore on the slide with this one.

Instead of all these individual shots, how about the family portrait. These were from a catalog I did for Castaic Soft Baits.
These shots were just today with my little point and shoot Barbie camera.

I caught this fatty large mouth in the san diego river about 2 months ago on a moss frog.

caught this alien bull frog a couple weeks ago, also in the river. This sucker was 1' long! In the picture he's not even hooked, he just didn't want to let go! I think i've caught more bull frogs than bass this summer with moss frogs lures.
