QMC Tram

Postby SkiSantaCruz » Wed May 20, 2009 10:57 pm

Hi there, does anyone happen to have pictures of the old QMC tram at june? I've seen the pictures at skilifts.org, and it's such an interesting looking lift I'd like to see if I can get some more shots of it.

Thanks!

I always thought it looked like either a big telephone booth, a shower stall, or one of those photo booths in the mall.

Here's the Tram line in the summer....

Well dang... just saw that this picture came from skilifts.org as well. Looks like they have the only "good" stuff around.

I've rode them both too,

If you were riding the tram from chair 2 to main when it fell off the end you'd get a cookie

I miss that old hunk of junk, viva la Quickly Moving Coffin!

Who remembers what else we used to call that thing?

Don't forget the Roller Toaster back at main lodge

Are you talking about the old people mover? I've heard stories about what a total...um...success that was too.

they need a gondola bad at that place. too bad june doesnt make as much profit as mammoth and maybe they would consider the investment.
-Chairs 5, 12, and 25 are the best.
-I don't care how much you argue, the chair 14 outpost is never open.
-June Mountain is the suxiest ski area in the world, you should never go there.

Since Mammoth owns June, they should go ahead and make the investment in a new gondola up the face or at the very least an improved higher speed chair. Can you imagine how business would be if chair one was to fail ? Essentially that would close the mountain until it was fixed. I remember many more skier visits at June Mt the years the QMC ran. I also run into many people every year who won't ski June because they are fearful of chair one. I personally enjoy old chair one, but I really want to see June Mt remain a viable business. Why doesn't MMSA treat June Mt as part of their "whole" business plan as long as they own it? Usually business owners invest in their businesses in order to see higher returns in the long run.

In the meantime its interesting to see how many old QMC cars are sitting next to various houses around town.

yeah haha i love bouncing on ch 1, i probably have lost the chair some years from all the times i have been to june no wonder the resort hates it when you do things like that. downhill is also a lot of fun between the view and the ride. :P by the way i think ch 1 is pretty durable. from when it was first built its been remodeled with new drives, etc. if they keep adding to it the thing will last but they do need to make it faster. they loose lots of skiers that way.

That site hasn't been updated for a very long time. What used to be a very hot topic has disappeared from the radar as far as I can see. I wonder whats going on with that right now. Seems like it could be a very long time to wait for improvement at June Mt if it continues to be dependent on "breaking ground" across the street first.

most of the site talks about the plan for the growth of the town, not the expansion of the ski area. too bad since i dont really mind what they do to it just as long as the condos are still there to stay at. :D
