been a hard year on everyone. heard there were a lot of layoffs this week, sorry to hear. the plow operators must have really gotten hurt this year after all the snow we had last year.

We rent our place out sometimes to help pay bills, but this year i think i only rented 2 weekends, which is bad but at least it keeps my home nice and clean!

Plus, the mountain has been offering great deals to try and bring skiers up the hill. Airfare, lodging and liftix, for less than it costs to drive an suv to mammoth, from the bay area, is even less than LA.

I think Rusty has done what he can considering the conditions and trying to be fair to as many employees as he can. Thankfully Mammoth added all the additional snowmaking last year ! That saved us a lot im sure!

The line for the duper pipe was put in last fall.
Don't do it in the park.

So doesn't benefit 99% of the people that visit the mountain. But yeah i guess they did add something.

Sierra Wave News reads the MMSA forums!

More detail on MMSA layoffs and finances

Criticisms continue in online comments, letters and calls. In a post on the Mammoth Mountain Forum and in a letter to laid off employees, Gregory tried to explain. He also answered some of our questions.

Meanwhile, Gregory plans to speak to the Mammoth Town Council Wednesday night. His item is listed on the agenda as a “Business Update”. And, emails were circulating from a Paul Ramirez, who is apparently a second homeowner. He has created a Facebook page called 30,000 to Save Mammoth Jobs. He’s encouraging all to help get 30,000 visitors to Mammoth by March 31. He believes that would generate $2 million in revenue. He also encourages businesses to go to the Facebook page and post, free of charge, any specials they have. Find his page at https://www.facebook.com/SaveMammothJobs.

Way to go, Paul (SKIHOTH)!

Pretty sweet. Vaguely familiar too ... kinda like downhilling on a bike, but on steroids.

I hope they've managed the risk of deer strikes. Aieeee.

Anyone remember the alpine slide at Boreal in the 80s? Is it still there?

While it'd be great to have something like an alpine slide or zip line at Mammoth, sadly, I don't think they'll be able to invest in it for quite some time.

I vote for this!! Maybe it would have been a better investment then the sliding hill? We rode Park City's version of this 4 years ago.. Pretty awesome you can ski right up to it ride it then get back on a lift. You get to control the brakes.

Awesome summer and winter feature.

^ I'm also guessing the insurance liability on this must be pretty high.

I doubt it would be higher than a ski area or downhill MTB park.
Don't do it in the park.

I completely agree with you, but this would be an additional policy or an amendment to the existing policy. Additional cost to the cost of building it.

My guess is that these things are about a million times safer than everything else mammoth already does, so I would call BS if insurance premiums were a reason to not have them. You're on a solid track in a seatbelt.
Don't do it in the park.
