Ths should probably be posted in the equipment thread but won't get enough responses.
So the question is what binding are you using and why? Has anybody tried the Knee binding? results? I am glad Look Pivots are back and that is what is going on my ski this year, lower DIIN setting with no prelease and mostly indestructible. No need for Marker crap
Skeeze, what are you basing that on? What I have heard the Knee bindings are good if you put them up a notch or two for example if you are a DIN 12 put em on Din 14...but that makes you suspect in of itself!Just want to get reedumacated about all bindings out on the market.
First of all, the max DIN on the burliest KneeBinding is 12. That's generally a sign it's not meant for more aggressive skiers. They're also made almost entirely out of plastic. And they're ridiculously expensive.
They seem good for protecting the ACLs less aggressive skiers on groomed runs who are prone to sitting backseat and slow-twisting falls. However, until there's a ton of positive feedback from aggressive off-piste skiers on retention and durability, you have to doubt them somewhat. Just get Look Pivots/Rossi FKS.
Thanks Neil. In the end, found some brand new 2012 FKS' on ebay for $239, and bought those this morning. Now I won't have regrets the middle of next season on why I didn't spring for the bindings I really wanted...
