The deer we saw were molting, makes them look pretty bad. They didnt' want to get out of the road so I turn the dog loose on them. Didn't see any bucks.

Baconator, what is your area for the hunt if you have one over here? The White Mtns suck!

Do you also bow hunt? There are some real fine bow hunters that live in the Eastern Sierra as you can well expect. They do it Indian style and some of them really are Indians. There is something about bow hunting that makes it a lot more up close and personal.

This is actually a real good year for deer with all the abundant feed. They are seen running all over the place spreading ticks and looking cute. Still not as many as there used to be before they started killing all the lions to protect the Bighorns. Good luck!

Thank you, sir! I do bowhunt, mostly up around the Bridgeport area (A-20 zone for archers, X-12 for rifle). Last year I hunted a TOAD up high for 9 days and couldn't close the deal. If that 5x5 made it through rifle season, his days are numbered - I begged my way onto a party application for this year and will make it my life's mission to smoke him. Walking out last year I came across a little forked-horn. I stood 28.5 yards away from him and we stared at each other for several minutes. When he didn't break I knew that he wouldn't last long being that dumb so I went ahead and dumped him (might as well be me as somebody else, right?). I've never seen so many ticks on a deer in all my life. By the time I got back to the truck they had left the deer, walked across my pack and decided I was a more suitable host.

There are two guys up there in particular that I've met while out hunting that are the real Indian deal. Great guys and outstanding hunters!

Yeah, you are way into it and have made it a way of life for sure. Pretty dang good food, too, if not the best a man can get.

Some of the unreal deer hangouts I have seen in the past were at June Lake coming down cross country along Alger Creek from Gem Lake.

Esha Canyon in McGee can have some monsters.

I don't know too much about Bridgeport except that it is famous for its deer hunting and fishing. There are so many great places but it is hard to get permits.

Chuck Yeager used to hunt the Walker Lake area near June Lake, because I found his tree carving. While you are out there, check out some of those carvings. There are millions up by Bridgeport.

What about that Lost Cannon Road area? I walked the old sheepherder trail about a mile back in there along the spring, and it is really nice. There has got to be some action back in there I would think.

Okay, well maybe come hunting time you can do a hunting thread.
