Today really sucked. The crowds were terrible. Here's a teaser photo. I'll post more later, maybe...Cheaps, guess what was open today...Yep, SPS..

Yeah, he's in Boston now playing for the Celtics.

Good seeing you today. Saw you feeling your way down Powder Chute as I was coming up J7.

fun day for sure... busiest day at June I've ever seen.. I had to wait about 30 seconds once to get on J7 :?

Snow was pretty good, but used to June standards... it was a bit firmer than I expected, but I'm really nitpicking.

Only other bummer is I don't think they were prepared for the "crowds".. SPS's had no hot water or hot chocolate, no TP in bathrooms.. and the main lodge rain out of hot dogs. The beer made up for it all though. :)

Good to see the gang all there! we closed it down at 4 and smell OGT's meat smoking over here at the Gull Lake Lodge.... :?

Auspicious beginning... first day at June on opening day in 50th anniversary year. The real bummer was that they ran out of hot dogs at the main lodge. A chili cheese dog would have been great for lunch.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming... "Wow! What a ride!"

Welcome whatta ride...nice that you finally came out of lurk-mode! Good to see you today at that place that sux. Hope you return for many more fun days there! :)

It was a picture-perfect day before with no wind (the calm before the storm! ) and chilly temps. The conditions were better than I anticipated, but still very thin. I was glad I waited until 11:00 to show up because onegoodturn, Freerider and teledork said it was very firm early this morning. You had to really WATCH in front of you to make sure you weren't approaching tiny twigs sticking out in some places or rocks that had been kicked up just below the surface on some knolls. The snow quality was quite nice on most runs, but I was glad I had good edges. We found Snowave and his girlfriend whatta ride at Stew Pot Slims (yes, it was actually open! :o ) and I ate lunch while they all drank beer!  I stayed until 2:00, then headed home. No crowds, as usual and everyone was in a festive mood for their anniversary and the holidays. All snow riders had to download as Canyon Trail barely has any coverage and was closed. It was a memorable June opener for certain! :inlove:

Edited to add: Thanks for the shout out SDmarkus...good to see you again!

Going up J1 - The Face is pretty bony to say the least!

Really crowded on Gunsmoke! That's Freerider that zoomed past me.

Here comes OGT!

Snowave and whatta ride. Look...new umbrellas at Stew Pot Slims! (besides being out of toilet paper and soap in the ladies room, they didn't seem very prepared for opening day as two of the three recycle bins were still facing the shack and were not available to the guests and there was only one trash can out with a full deck of folks lounging around eating and drinking.)
