June Lake holds many secrets like venturing inside the acqueduct tunnel to do repairs or riding up the tram to Agnew and Gem Lake. Skiing the Mono Craters is a good one or Woods Mtn. There is millionaires row on Silver Lake where Walter Lantz and Frank Capra had cabins until they passed away. West of the 120 turnoff about a mile on a dirt road is a cabin that kids from June Lake used to live in and party in for years.

One of the saddest stories is how George Yost lost his life at Yost Lake and froze to death one winter. He was the best of mountain men, and the storm of his life finally caught up to him. He was found frozen against a tree with his rifle in his hands. They put up a memorial plaque at the tree where they found him.

There are many secrets to June Lake that have nothing to do with the ski hill. And yes, people are still out looking to get rich by finding the fabulous Lost Cement Mine. Good luck!

Now why would I need to find a Cement mine? I just mix it myself. :P

There were gold nuggets in a strange cement matrix. Only one guy named White knew where it was after his buddies died or were murdered. He had to ditch people every time he left town that were following him trying to jump his claim. It was said to be one of the richest finds ever. Mix that up in your dreams.

I was once about to die; I hadn't gotten any sleep due to a nasty cough that was preventing me from breathing properly at night. So sick I could barely walk. Don't know what compelled me to ride up J1 that day. But yeah I had to clock out from riding by 11AM, so I went to Stewpot Slims and sat down with a bowl of beef stew. I swear it saved my life.

The snow really sux though, so bad that it is really easy to find fresh lines a few days after a storm, cuz it sux so much nobody wants to ride it. (Takes a few storms to roll through before the base is thick enough to really ride through the trees, otherwise I hope you have a healthy stockpile of p-tex). 10 points if you know where this shot is from.

p.s. the ski trail was from a random female who popped out of the trees while I was setting up my camera. THANKS FOR DESTROYING MY PICTURE PERFECT POW.

Sux cuz it's always so empty, even on holidays.

Sux cuz they only give you snow-mobile tows up the halfpipe on Tuesdays only.

I mean, just look at the sucky weather, so bad that nobody wants to ride the halfpipe except for skiers.
