Spend the $20 and go have a blast.
The landing feels like super deep powder. I must of jumped 40 times over the last 2 days. Twice landed on my head. No big deal. You just roll over onto side. Also, you can't use poles when jumping. Something about a sharp instrument and a bag full of air. Not a good combo.
Once you land, you pop off ski's and slide over to edge and feet first slide off pad. The park attendant will help you off.
As for you ability, even the most beginner boarders/skiers can jump. There were several boarders over the weekend who could barely go down the in-run with confidence but handled the jumps fairly easily.
As for the back flip, go for it. A fairly easy trick on ski's considering you just continue the transition and pop your head back.
I've trained for years at the water ramps in Park City, Utah each summer and these air bags are 1000X better. No life vests, no 50 degree water. And the water hurts a lot more when hitting it on your side than the air bags does.
I'm jazzed about this added feature to Mammoth. The perfect place to learn a trick and then take it over to the park and do it for real....
