Listening to Caltrans on the scanner about the line up of vehicles in the chain-up area on Hwy. 203. Traffic is backed up to the off ramp from 395 because folks are chaining up in the #2 lane of 203! They've called for CHP to assist with traffic control.

I'm glad to see the chain installers making some money.

I drove south from June last night. There was a white out between Bishop and Big Pine. I'd never seen anything like it. I thought I had driven on a closed road by mistake. I couldn't see anything at all, and was inching from snow pole to snow pole. After Big Pine it was not so bad, but it did snow on and off all the way to L.A. However, January 2011 still retains the title of the worst drive to L.A. ever.

Tonight there is thick fog from Independence going north. Everyone should just stop at the mini mart Casino until the sun comes up.

The only errand I have to run this week is get to the P.O. to check for a late-arriving Christmas package. I will access our wonderful free public transportation then take my life in my hands by trying to cross Main Street in the cross walk to catch the bus home!

There are tourist and there are morons. There will always be more tourist than morons. It's just a fact that the morons give the tourist a bad name. Like the touron who wanted to fight the gondola liftie so he could ride G2 to the top even thou it was closed. "I bought a lift ticket and I'm going to the top". For you (mostly of out of towners to boot) that think these frame grabs are funny please put yourself in their shoes for a moment. How would you feel getting stuck in that mess with your family while trying to get your chains put on?

These are people coming to Mammoth for a vacation and are going to spend money in town and on the hill. We should embrace them and help them out anyway we can.

I wish everyone in those pictures blue bird days and the most awesome meals and service at the local restaurants.
