Best part of maybe a top 5 December is that half of it was rain here at 8100 feet.

Yup. We're listening to Caltrans on the scanner and they just turned the chain signs out on Hwy. 6 all the way to the State Line!

Sure hope our new forum friend "Gibby" made it in okay!

We have about 6" on our railing so far this evening and it's still coming down steadily.

Over a foot of new snow according to the patrol site and still snowing and looks like it could continue for a couple more hours at least. Right in line with WeatherGuy's forecast...
It has to snow again eventually...right???

Nearly a few inches of snow and calm in Bishop this morning. Sorry to hear about the patrolman who was killed in an avalanche in Tahoe. Just like SL said, the real worry now is avalanche danger.

As of now this is the 4th snowiest December on record for Mammoth and it won't take much to make it up to #3. Actually a couple of inches today will do it.

Great start to the season!

8:00 a.m. The big winds knocked most of the snow off our railing last night so I'm guessing we had about 6-8". MM picked up another 19"+ and the winds are still howling!

Nice little storm, I measured spots with up to 30 inches on Lincoln. 18 inches in the tree's off 15 on the way back to the car. Light and Dry unlike two days ago. Snow walls on my street are up to 4 - 6 feet now. If your driving in Old Mammoth beware of cars pulling out from behind the blind berms that are everywhere.

Listening to Caltrans on the scanner about the line up of vehicles in the chain-up area on Hwy. 203. Traffic is backed up to the off ramp from 395 because folks are chaining up in the #2 lane of 203! :o They've called for CHP to assist with traffic control.
