Rain has temporarily abated but just got a big rumble as I read PHo's post. I have to admit I wasnt expecting as much tstorm activity.

It went very dark with extremely heavy rain and some thunder here in South Redondo Beach about 20 minutes ago. It was quite interesting to watch as it rolled in off the ocean and over our condo complex.

Thought that was worth a first post.

I'm at 7th & Fig. You must be too far south.

Just a few fat flakes before the heavy rain started. It was definitely snow though!

im sorry but theres only one kind of snow in downtown LA and its near skid row and its a stimulant.

you prbably just saw the effects of gusty winds, updrafts and downdrafts from t storms pushing rain up and around like snowflakes, its 53 degrees and the wet bulb is right around 50 so there is no way it was snow...maybe hail or possibly maybe maybe maybe graupel. but snow flakes, no way jose.

maybe you were the section of the cloud where hail was forming or just beiing pushed back up into the cloud base by updrafts.

I think its possible it was snow. I was on Mammoth in May once when the temp. was 50 but a downdraft from a passing cell made it snow for a bit. The way to tell is that snow floats and drifts whereas hail being heavier comes down pretty straight with the wind.
