Ready for my first real ski season - based out of Lee Vining

Postby Dyonysyx » Sat Dec 01, 2012 1:08 pm

Hi all,

I've been living in Lee Vining for 6 months now, but I might as well say hello now that winter's here.

I've been up and down the Eastern Sierra for most of my life, and after graduating this May I decided that I might as well live out here for a while. In the summer and fall I'm out hiking, fishing, and climbing as much as I can, and now that it's winter I'm hoping to ski as much as I can. Lee Vining is pretty quiet in the winter, but fortunately I also started homebrewing this year and have a productive hobby to keep me busy during cold winter nights.

I'm from San Diego originally and just graduated from Berkeley, so I'm looking forward to my first winter in a place that actually has one. I finally got into skiing last season and 6 hours of driving for a day of mediocre snow got old really fast. If only June was still open this season...

Hope to see some of you out there for some great post storm skiing!

I've only looked through the homebrew posts so far but I'll get through the rest...eventually.

One of my favorite perks of living out here is definitely the half price growler fills at MBC the 1st Wednesday of every month. And if you're a homebrewer, growlers make excellent yeast starter vessels too!
