After reading this thread, I finally noticed the locker fees here at Heavenly....$8!! So Mammoth is on par with the big resorts (even though we all know Mammoth is one of the biggest mountains out there). :geek:

some resorts don't even have lockers. they have basket check.

It was a big topic on conversation on the lifts this past week.

With all the backlash, I'm honestly surprised that Mammoth has not reduced the price. After the $8 charge, I think most of us would be OK with $4 lockers. :o

$2.50 Is My max. That would still be a 25% increase in this crappy economy. I still say this was a bonehead decision that will alienate people way more than the lift ticket increase. Bad deal. :(

Just because I feel left out.

Never paid for a locker & don't plan on it. Buy a backpack, check your board/ski's at lunch time. The only time I would consider it is I had a season pass and lived in/near town.

I don't know about Warming Hut 2 but at Main Lodge this MLK weeknd the only place the lockers were all used was at the limited $13 in and out room. The long line of empty lockers in the halls was pretty clear evidence of what people think oif the $8 fee. Lots of people putting on boots in the $20 prefered parking, a much better deal.

My questions are: Why hasn't there been a riot? Why aren't the lockers plastered with "Locker prices suck" stickers? Why isn't there a lot of slamming-locker noise accompanied by a "Locker prices suck" chant? I hate to say this because the Hosts and other Mammoth employees a basically nice people, and they have no authority, but we need to be angry in their face and tell them what we think so they take the message to those with authority that the natives are restless. Best of all, DON'T USE THE LOCKERS. Most are empty now. If less than 1/4 of them are used, the people with authority are losing money relative to last year.

Last Monday afternoon I was returning to my locker at Main after skiing. I walked by the token lockers and a MMSA employee was doing some work on them.

I jokingly said to him, "Alright! You're turning them back into $2.00 lockers!"

He didn't laugh. :|

at Warming Hut II last Saturday i heard a parent complaining to the host, i feel bad they are in this position to basically do the PR for management but the host just had to take it and all he could do was offer the $13/day unlimited in and out deal as long as you pay for a 2 day minimum.

Wha? You mean a 400% price increase in deep economic recession and in an industry relying on disposable income didn't play? What a surprise. :fubar:

i am sure this is buried somewhere in this thread but my boss who just got back from Mammoth said this is the last year for the old school metal lockers at Canyon. Anybody else hear this? I am sure if this is true it would apply to the ML as well.
