I'd imagine because everything after that would be gravy $.

I have a season locker but am enraged that the price of day lockers has gone so high. People are finding alternative ways to store their gear, so Mammoth will not make money on this; in fact, they'll lose the revenue they got before since most day lockers were used on weekends. Why didn't you just raise it to $4? Most people would find that tolerable. And the people with whom I've discussed this are all retired, financially comfortable people who can afford the $8 but refuse to give in to your greediness. It's the principal of the thing - it's just not right. And if someone shuts their locker and realizes they left something out or have to put something in, unless there are full-time hosts in the locker room to open the lockers free for those occasions, people could be spending much more than $8 per day. The whole thing is preposterous. And since the season locker holders get a discount if they have season passes, why not give a discount to season pass holders for the day lockers as well? There must be alternatives to this rate increase and I sincerely hope you'll consider them. I'm a Mammoth devotee - it's the only place I want to ski and I won't give up my season locker. So I am not affected at all by the day locker issue. As I said, it's a matter of principal and it's very poor P.R. to hike the rates up this high so suddenly.

I would like to propose that Mammoth consider putting the new combination lockers Basket Check now has in the main locker room at the Main Lodge. With combinations, people could share lockers and would be more open to paying $5 for unlimited day use if 2 people shared a locker. And there's no chance of losing the key. PLEASE consider this! You're also likely to have fewer paying skiers on the hill if they're outraged enough about the locker situation.

^ I don't know that they'll see a change in paid guests, but I will be pretty surprised if they don't see a drop in locker revenue. And personally, I think if people aren't using lockers, but leaving stuff in their cars, I think they're more likely to see a drop in the food and beverage outlets as well. If I drove my car to Canyon so that I could change into my boots there, I'd probably be more apt at the end of the day to go straight to the car instead of the bar.

I am also a season locker holder. Does this mean I should expect my yearly fee/rate to go up 400% next year?

yeah,

it would be like the many people who bought condos at the Westin Auction here in Costa Mesa a couple months ago who pay more for association fees then they do for their mortgage....

That does suck.. I bought in '98 and my assosiation was less than my mortgage... it's ~$170 MORE than my mortgage now... I feel sorry for those who bought at the peak.. well not really.. but sort of.

I feel sorry for those who have to use the lockers at the peak.. Picture this... Dad, Mom, two kids walking up the stairs. Dad is carrying his equipment and half of the kids stuff. Crap keeps falling out of his grasp. Blizzard outside, kids crying and cold.
He makes the final turn to the locker area and can't believe what he sees. This poor guy is not turning back now. Instead he just seaths, fumes and caves in to keep from having a nervous breakdown. If he only knew ahead of time he could have worked on a plan B. :(

And then he just gives in and pays the outragous locker fee.The rest of the day he is pissed off for being gouged so he has a crappy experience on the hill. After his vacation is over and he is making new plans to ski with the family he remembers that crappy experience and goes to Tahoe instead.

Don't forget how he yells at his kids at the top of chair 8 and gets into a screaming match with his wife and ends up sleeping on the couch.

Nope. You'll take your kids to June and you'll have a great time.

This is my favorite locker ... in the June Chalet.
