In my over 25 years of skiing, I have skied at over 40 ski areas in the US and feel that Mammoth is one of the best, but I can't afford to pay $83 for a lift ticket.
Unfortunetely, I have not skied at Mammoth for the past 3 seasons, because of the cost.
I know many of you may say that you can't compare Mammoth to the areas I list below, due to big differences is skiable acres, length of season, amount of grooming & lifts, higher altitude leading to more consistent snowpack, etc.
That is great. But if you can't afford $83 a day, you just don't ski.
Skiing is my passion. I think about it every day; I would rather ski at all; then not ski because I can't afford Mammoth.
Listed below are the lift ticket costs I have paid to ski other areas the past 3 seasons:
$30 @ Donner Ski Ranch; Lake Tahoe area
$64 @ June Mountain
$52 @ Timberline; Mt. Hood Oregon
$15 @ Powder Mountain; Ogden, UT
$42 @ Badger Pass; Western Sierra
$48 @ Sierra Summit; Western Sierra
I hope to ski Mammoth again this spring, as the Value Season takes effect on April 20th, but that still will cost me $69 per day. May have to make a trip to Lake Tahoe instead, just so I can afford to eat, sleep, etc.
