My very first long exposure night photo shot under a full moon. Shot at Convict Lake back in July 2007 and finally added to my website last night.

that's a nice stretch of road

lookin at your photos i see you made it down to cedar creek falls! That's really an impressive place in such an arid area. Did you get there from the country estates or down the long dirt road from pine hills? Make sure you buy an adventure pass if you park on eagle peak rd., i got a ticket there several years ago...

In honor of the 30th anniversary of Mt St Helens, here are a couple pics that I shot a few years ago. The absolute devastation of the event is still clearly evident all around the volcano but the rebirth of the area is also clear - even though scientists initially predicted it would be decades before life returned.

(sorry, having problems embedding photos for the moment!)

a cool trick if you have google earth-
zoom in on St. Helens
then on the top tool bar click on the clock icon, this will allow you to view all available hi def images going back to 1994 (going back to the 40's in the Lake Tahoe regions case) and you can toggle back and forth between them. Doing this allows you to see the dome & the surrounding glacier grow quite rapidly.

it's also neat (or sad) to see the change a forest fire has cause, a new housing development, glaciers retreating and sometimes advancing, logging, ski resorts emerge, urban revitalization (in the case of san diego's east village,) sky scrapers being erected, the katrina before/after, etc...
