And yeah, he was offside. But, pretty much impossible to call. Which would have been easier to give benefit of the doubt before the revelations about his smack talking (the refs)!
I read that's what he called Mata (which is unprofessional/biased but not necessarily racial abuse), but more importantly, Ramires and David Luiz both heard him call John Obi Mikel something racially motivated after Mikel was booked. Both Ramires and David Luiz are prepared to make statements about it.
And the offside is very hard to tell in the glitchy gif from the top angle, but I saw it pretty clearly live and the assistant ref had a better view than anyone else.
Either way, it's no where near as bad as the Catania vs. Juventus game this past weekend. Catania's opener was not ruled offside by the AR or center ref (and it wan't even close to offside either), but then Juve complained and the ref changed his mind a minute later. And then Bendtner was offside when Juve scored the winner. Add to that a history of match fixing... It's a shame too because I actually like the way Juve plays now.
