Lone Pine Fire Yesterday

Not sure what, how, or exactly where. It looked like it was down by the Owens just east of town. The smoke was carried by the high winds several miles south.

They called it the River Fire - apparently 1 mile NE of the dump. That's all I could glean though...

That's the fun part about dispatch. You get to name them, usually by a prominent landmark nearby. My first fire was located at Pam's Hole (which is a swimming hole). They would not let me name it the Hole fire, or Pam's Hole, so I went with Pam.

We pictured it on the way home. Maybe a prescribed burn?

SG was listening to our scanner Sunday morning to the agencies being called out to respond. Glad they got it under control during those high winds.

River Fire ended up being 406 acres:

This is the third fire in Inyo County this (dry) winter season. It does not bode well. :|
