Seems there was another one last night that was visible over much of SoCal and was reported to be bright green:

I've got to join the club here. Saw a fireball here from my backyard in the Granada Hills back in '99. This thing was just yellow/white bright going across the sky and yes turning all into daylight, with all the shadows on ground turning as it went across. It left the same spiral type smoke trail as seen in the recent Russia event. It headed out toward the west(ocean). This happened as I happened to go outside at 4:30 AM. My neighbor also saw it as he was getting ready for work.
I called Griffith Observatory and no other calls came in. He said who else is up at that time.. They are more frequent than we think.
Somehow have an unexplainable draw to visit Devils Tower in WY..... :?

Couple years ago my dad and I were out on our kayaks at night off Dana Point and a pretty big meteor streaked straight down to the E over land. A call came over the VHF from a boat at Cat, calling DP Harbor Patrol's attention to a distress flare over the channel, and DPHP started to mobilize some resources to check it out. We talked it over and decided we should let them know that it could have been the meteor that was seen and the perspective from Cat might have made it look like it was over the channel. My dad called it in and he was thanked for the info. We assume they did some checking however they could and within minutes they recalled their boat(s) and asked for any possible visuals of secondary flares. The VHF was quiet for the rest of the night and no other flares or meteors were seen.
I used to be with it, then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with, isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to yoooouuu.

We were driving up the Owens Valley at night about 18 years ago when the sky lite up and we could see all the way to the tops of both mountain ranges. We did not see the meteoroid but were told it was green. People were pulling over all over the road. A friend of mine saw it from near Red Bluff in Northern California. The people driving south saw it.

Has it been 18 years? I think that's the one I and thousands saw one night. I saw it in the Central Valley on the 5 southbound as it streaked NE. It was so bright green you could see a vapor trail and it cast shadows in passing. When I got to LA it was all over the 10 PM news. I thought I heard later pieces landed in Nevada.
