The "new" Photobucket

Postby Sierra Lady » Sun Feb 17, 2013 11:35 pm

Anybody else hate the "new" Photobucket? Most of the old features don't work yet and there is no auto re-size of images when you download. Tons of complaints in their feedback section. :swear:

I may be forced to find another host. Any suggestions? :?

It has some nice fluff, but not being able to set the default size is a PITA.

And it's one I told them about when they introduced the beta. Apparently they didn't think it was that important.

By an odd st of circumstances, I actually have spoken to their senior management on other occasions. Maybe I should bring up some of the complaints to that level so they get the appropriate attention. :?:

I am not crazy about the new photobucket. I am looking for an alternate. Anyone know of a good user friendly option?

Their new site also won't allow me to choose the share settings I want in my user settings. It allows me to select my choices for the direct link and url link, but then it defaults to the email/IM and html code links! I have no way of sharing my albums with the volunteer organization I work for or friends. :fubar:

B395, please do tell this senior management person about this situation. Have that person read the hundreds of complaints since early February. It appears hardly anyone is happy and most could care less for the new "fluff" they are offering if the well-used basics have been removed. I don't understand how they could launch their new site with so many bugs still in it! :|

SL, have you tried Imageshack? I find it to be the easiest way to upload & post pics, you simply set the picture size you want (640x480 in this case) and upload. Once the size is set on your account you don’t need to really do anything else except select the pictures you want uploaded each time, Imageshack does everything else automatically for you.

I don’t understand photobucket at all, I tried to use it when I first joined the forum but it would always cut off the sides of my pictures when I uploaded them. So I switched to Imageshack, but I am sure there is a reason why everyone uses photobucket, maybe the picture quality is better or the upload capacity is larger. Imageshack only allows you to upload 5mb and smaller photos for free, and store 5gb for free as well.

anyway, good luck.

I tried out the "new" Photobucket for a few weeks then went back to the classic Photobucket. Not happy that I now have to switch. They blew it IMO.

Some of you are better off than me, as I can't even get an image to upload from my computer today.

I messed with it a bit tonight.

first attempt.

Nothing fishy here.

Second attempt.

Edit: seems fine to me. I'll let you know when it starts going South. Just gotta be a bit patient and able to work out the kinks. Just like the new gondola routine.

It still works just not as easy to naviagate and the "edit" function doesn't work at all for me for some reason.

I've given them my feedback.

The problem (it seems to me anyway) is that Photobucket was a photo sharing website and now they want to be a social network. I don't see that happening.
