It's early-to-middle of July ... and you're in Iceland today ... and the people are now turning out for the Summer festivals..

The long dark cold WInter is no longer an immediate concern .. you're just happy to lay on the soft grass and enjoy the warm moment, however fleeting.. Scandinavia's summer of natural intoxication.

A festive mood..

Iceland in Summer!

Carpe Diem!

Where has this thread gone ? Some of you are making me feel older than I am.

Can we please try getting past the summer of 69.

I didn't think so.

What about a link to your song of choice. Someone might appreciate it.
How about some elder school . . . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRlOI3N7 ... detailpage

Oh man ...

Sorry for the nostalgia-trip-bias, squids..

I'm so frickin stuck here in Retroville lately, LOL, what can I say ... ? Could be Margaritaville (instead)!

Anyhoo, here's another cut that has me daydream-bailing back to the '70s.

Billy's a strange guy. No stranger than myself, though..

I'm impressed with what he's done creative-wise and music-wise. He may be a control freak and hyper-ambitious, but he pretty much made the Pumpkins, FWIW..

And he's a lifelong Cubs/Bears/Bulls fan. He continues to praise his roots, musically. NTTAWWT.

Remember when you were 15, 16, or 17 years old? .. California-cruisin'? Friday night drinking/doobie parties?

* * * * *

"Shakedown 1979, cool kids never have the time
On a live wire right up off the street
You and I should meet
Junebug skipping like a stone
With the headlights pointed at the dawn
We were sure we'd never see an end to it all
And I don't even care to shake these zipper blues
And we don't know
Just where our bones will rest
To dust I guess
Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below
Double cross the vacant and the bored
They're not sure just what we have in store
Morphine city slipping dues down to see
That we don't even care as restless as we are
We feel the pull in the land of a thousand guilts
And poured cement, lamented and assured
To the lights and towns below
Faster than the speed of sound
Faster than we thought we'd go, beneath the sound of hope
Justine never knew the rules,
Hung down with the freaks and the ghouls
No apologies ever need be made, I know you better than you fake it
To see that we don't even care to shake these zipper blues
And we don't know just where our bones will rest
To dust I guess
Forgotten and absorbed into the earth below
The street heats the urgency of now
As you see there's no one around.."

Hey 2NA reminded me of this band Solas I've been listening to for some time. It's got a banjo; and a fiddle as well.
Sometimes listening to different is good then different becomes normal.

Then again I used to think Surf Punks and 999 were the norm.

Hah ! It's all good fer shure.

Been there on the nostalgia trip and I'm pretty sure it'll come full circle again sooner or later.
I here y'all on sh!t from back in your day, but don't you need to mix it up once in while ?
Nothing like cutting from Dean Martin to sum'in by Minor Threat to make ya say WTF !

Sorry Tuna, I'm a Flatt-n-Scruggs man. Still got the vinyl to show for it. Now that right there's a party !

I've got a couple of siblings that would blast a lot of the oldies you freaks have listed.
All stuff Allman Bros.to Zappa from the days before Earth Shoes, which is almost longer than I can remember.
And yes, I can remember a thing or two before 69.

Do you old falks listen to anything recorded in this century ?

OK. Hear yas, squidly...

Dance time, y'all..

Capital Cities - "Safe and Sound"

" I could lift you up..."

"I could fill your cup..."

[No nostalgia here on this one. Weird/stark/dramatic juxtaposition-imagery here, tho..]

Or the 'official' version:

[Is that a REAL trumpet or a perhaps just a synthesizer?]
