Was at Snow Summit two seasons ago and saw about 20 enlisted guys in full snow camo's getting ready to practice. Never did see them on the hill. Maybe they went off the backside or something.

They use to train on the mountain with skis back in the day. Patrol was real busy.

I saw them training on the hill several times last season. They had three different groups.. The first group had never been on skis or seen snow, the second group was all about french fries go fast, pizza go slow, and the third group actually had some talant and had clearly been on skis for awhile.

I saw them a couple times around Stump Alley last season. The toothpick thin skis they had looked pretty challenging to learn on.

On the hill and in K-Mart. They've been coming to Mammoth for almost as many years as I have (maybe more). I've seen them more frequently the last few years - mid week obviously.

Gotta wish those guys well. It’s eerie how often the eastern sierra doubles for Afghanistan, from Marine training at Pickel Meadows to movie locations in the Owens Valley. “Come to the Eastside! A little slice of Afghanistan right in your backyard!” Kinda makes ya proud.

The Marines even have their own poma lift somewhere in the forest, near Silver Creek, in back of the training center. We saw it on a day hike in the Silver Creek area, while doing some primitive camping there in August, 2006.

I know two people that were born and raised in Iran that taught skiing there before coming to America. What is weird is that they don't ski here.

Iran's ski slopes used to be segregated by gender, lest there be a collision between male and female. But there's still religious police there that patrol the slopes...

I'm glad that we have separation of religion and slope in this country. Otherwise the USC girls couldn't be out there in their bikini's.
