find a legal place~ We have enuf trouble parking our own owners vehicles in winter. Anyone who even tries to park in our complex will be immediately towed! Dont even THINK about parking in any of the condos near the village or the lodges. ~~

Try the high school on the weekend. maybe they can sell you a place.

The town really needs to open up lots for parking. Perhaps allow people to park at the Village, Eagle, Canyon and Main lots for a fee, or for free if you're staying at a Mammoth property.

I don't see TOML ever allowing over night parking anywhere in town. They want their TOT, and I think they'd have a hard time preventing people from sleeping in their vehicles.

And an even harder time trying to avoid smashing the guests and their cars during snow removal. :!:

If you 're staying at Juniper and you have more than one car, the extra vehicle(s) can park at Eagle with a permit.

Parking has always been a big problem in Mammoth and many a shear pin on a snow blower has been busted by buried cars. That is quite a sound when those blades contact metal. Always leave a porch light on for those guys or you could get your front door or windows blown in. That is another little goody that has happened many times before.

Any resort town that makes it difficult for people to find parking in winter is going to lose visitors. It could be a reason why they choose not to return to Mammoth. Apparently, June Lake is a secret that they don't know about.

There is a need that is not being filled or addressed. What else is new?

How about free parking all winter 8-)

There's a guy who pulled his trailer out by the Crowley dam right before the snow fell. He's about a 1/2 mile off the road, and not going anywhere until the snow melts. Now that's what I call free winter rent. He skis in and out, carries propane and water on a sled.

I'm pretty sure the DWP/BLM/Forest turdheads know he's out there but there's not much that can be done about it until the snow melts. Hopefully he's selling them a good story about getting caught off guard by the heavy snows and playing stupid when it comes to further conversation.

We know there is no camping allowed on DWP land. That's a sheriff thing. If he is on BLM or FS land, then he can stay for 28 days on the White Mtn. District. He must occupy the trailer overnight the entire time. Should he leave the trailer without notification, it can be declared abandoned and confiscated. They will tell him he has to leave and get the trailer out as soon as the road opens in the spring.

People's vehicles and trailers get trapped by snow all the time on the forest. They don't do it on purpose like it sounds like this guy did. Vehicles and trailers are often spotted by air patrols as well. What do I always tell you? "The forest has eyes."

There use to be a parking lot back there. It was used by some to hide their 2nd and 3rd vehicles from Trudy. There's still an old camper at that location. It's private property belong to Jim Lewin (rip), now I've heard the place has been purchased by a doctor. It's a fantasic piece of property.

You are speaking of Lord Jim. I think he inherited the money to build that place with the best view in the entire area.

You know old Jim didn't want to conform and wasted the years away behind drugs and alcohol. Little by little he let the place go into a mess. He had a bunch of cars down there and the place was turning into a trash heap. The new owner has his work cut out to restore that place.

One day we will have to let Lavagnino tell the story about that one, because he knew him for many years. Jim was quite a character, as you know, and became a major Toms Place burn out! Lavagnino still talks to his son, Sky.

I stayed clear of him, because he was trouble. He ended up doing a lot of jail time before he died.

I'm reviving this old thread to prove that I did search for an answer before posting to the forum.

I have a friend who is planning on having 4 cars at a lodge where 2 parking spaces are provided. She asked me where they could park the other 2 cars during their stay.

Is there any overnight parking at Mammoth this winter???

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. 8-)
