Tahoe Goldfish

Postby windyscotty » Fri Feb 22, 2013 8:45 am

Zephyr is up there right now yanking out 4 lb., 16 inchers right off the shore at Al Tahoe. They ship out to Frisco's Chinatown.

This story would have blown Mark Twain and Dan de Quille's mind. It blows my mind!

Bring back the Big Macs to eat those things.

Goldfish farming could become a big thing.

That was on the Sacramento TV stations the other night. What the???. From Asiatic mussles to goldfish?
Who is doing this? and that water is cold......

I do have some co-workers who fish Donner and Tahoe quite a bit. I will ask them to keep the cameras/phones/video cams at the ready.(though they are usually going deep for the macs n trout)

The reason why the asian girl is smiling is because the goldfish holds good luck in Chinese culture. They bred the fish specifically for that.

You can only imagine that when they see a big boy like this, it makes them show a lot of gold teeth.

You would think that Tahoe Nessie would see them as a delicacy, but she must know that to eat them is bad luck.

This should really pull in the Chinese tourists to Tahoe now.

Zeph, you need to capitalize on this some how. That is the American way.

How would one go about that?

Hop Sing would freakin' roll over...

What's the big deal, the trout is an invasive species in most eastern Sierra waters and nobody is concerned about that.
If it wasn't for the invasive trout the Crowley store wouldn't sell nearly as much beer and the bar at Toms Place would be empty of fisherman. I say stock the lakes with goldfish and fire the DFG.

I hear they fight like hec on a fly rod, and what's the difference for the catch an release crowd

According to the Sierra Club every person that lives in Mammoth is an invasive creature. I bet its only 50% ;)

You gotta admit this really adds a whole new dimension to fishing.

Little did they know when they flushed the little goldfish from the bowl down the toilet that a sewage spill would happen and release the little guys into the big lake.

It turns out they are tough enough to withstand the cold water of Tahoe. They are in the carp family, aren't they?

Carp are the most successful fish left over from prehistoric times. We'll make gold gefilte fish. It could be a big seller in SF and LA.

It will be just like when they fished for the big carp in Walker Lk, Nv. and put them on ice on the train. They fished them out. Not going to happen in Tahoe.
