There's no truce unless they're going to quit taking Owen's river water and let the lake fill up again.

It is funny, but I did not learn anything from that article. They talked about the battle that has gone on at 40 acres in Round Valley forever. It cracks me up that DWP leaves a tool box with a bolt cutter for the residents to cut the chain on the water wheel.

One sorry son of gun hanged himself at that water diversion in the photo. He had a huge battle with DWP, was going through a divorce and became despondent. He would often go up and cut the chain just to piss off DWP.

He got so angry and depressed over the whole deal that he hung himself so the DWP employees would find out about it.

What happened was that two ladies walking their dogs came across the body swinging from a tree limb.

This is why I always say it is important to carry a pocket knife with you at all times in case you come across someone swinging and jerkin' and need to cut the rope. But if you have to lift their body up, then how can you get over to cut the rope? Dangit!

They always say the last thing that dude heard before he met his maker was the babble of the little irrigation stream merrily making its way down to the 40 acres.

These water wars go deep.
