I have seen ads that state, " Adjusts to all conditions " I would take that to mean that it works equally well in flat light and bright sun. I have a feeling that they just adjust to light intensity and not color spectrum. Discuss.

There was a thread on this last year here and I'll say the same thing, I'm very happy with the Zeal photochromatic lenses. But in answer to your questions, yes they do adjust light to dark like the "transition lenses" commercials you see on TV (but not as fast), but with two differences. Mine have a red, rosy tint, not a black one, and they do not get 100% clear at night. That said, you get used to the tint and the tint does lighten up enough to safely ski at night. The red, rosy tint is more noticeable on sunny bluebird days than overcast days. But it's not a big deal to me. It's only a dark, rosy tint when the sun is out and a lighter, rosy tint when it's overcast. I consider them to be Goldilocks lenses because it's never too bright or dark for me, other than going from sun to shade, then it takes a minute or two to adjust. But yes, I very much agree with the claim "adjusts to all conditions".
Have you waxed your skis today?

My Zeal lenses are not only photochromatic, but polarized too. Again, best goggles to date by FAR. And Zeal is an American company too (not sure where made though).

Was checking the ski stores last night, not for goggles but for waterproof ski pants. Noticed that Kittredge has the PPX goggles for $179. The salesman said he skis with them and they are great, but admitted that they take about 3 minutes to turn. So for those who expect to ski from sun to shade and have immediate response from the goggles, that's not going to happen. :(

Bought a pair of Zeal PPX (polarized and photochromatic) goggles on Tramdock about a week ago. Had to stay awake until about 3 am before they came up; $54 with shipping. Got them a couple of days ago and will test them at Mammoth this weekend.

I did the "garden and closet" test today - first put them in the sun for 5 minutes, then brought them in and put them into my dark closet for 5 minutes. It would appear that the Zeal goggles get darker than the Bolle in the sun; however, the Bolle get lighter than the Zeal in the closet. I have not yet tested the comparative times for the 2 goggles to lighten or darken.

The tints are different so I'll see which I prefer, particularly in snowy conditions (if any snow should happen to fall next week!)

I can say that I have enjoyed using the Bolle goggles at Mammoth these past couple of trips. The sun isn't that strong at this time of year, and if you ski past 2:30 or so you encounter a lot of shade.

I will not be checking out night skiing, as we probably won't make it out to CO this season. It will be interesting to use them for afternoon into evening skiing at Keystone next year.

I will admit that around 3:30 pm and thereafter, if there is minimal light and shadows that the Zeal polarized photochromatic goggles still have quite a bit of tint/darkness to the lenses. I wish they were a little bit lighter (otherewise totally happy, even in snow). So, I may check out Bolle goggles. Thanks for the info.

The Zeals allow 43% light transmission at the lightest. I was hoping these would work for storms too. Norworski I think you would say no for storms?

And check this out, http://www.oakley.com/category/1048 Thought this was interesting and maybe helpful to members. Industry has figured out women need different equipment, thats has grown to include ethnicity, cool!

During a snow storm, I have not had any problems. I think all the white makes its bright????? When there are clear skies after 3:30 pm and there are shadows is when I have had "minor" issues seeing bumps, etc. Otherwise, I am very happy with the Zeal Goggles.

I skied with the Zeal in the snow last week and thought they were great. The next day I used the Bolle, and although they got light enough their pinkish tint was annoying in the flat light.

No fogging problem with either goggle, although I wear glasses underneath. I do use KatKrap on my glasses on wet days.

Then get polarized I started using them in New Zealand and I will not wear a non-polarized goggle again unless forced. Just like sunglasses. just easier to see in all type of light. but like people say eyes will vary.. I have been using Native goggle only because I can't seem to get Electric to sell me Polarized at the time I wanted them..

Starting next Monday, Zeal Goggles will be for sale again on The Clymb. I bought a pair earlier this season and the PPX (polarized, photochromatic) lenses are great. Also, the goggle just doesn't fog on my face, and there are very few goggles that meet that criteria.

Several women I know bought the Zeal Aspect PPX for $79 on the Clymb today. Seemed like a good price if I didn't already have a pair.
