Suggestions for a jib stick

Hey,

Im coming to Mammoth for the first time this season and am looking to get a freestyle/jib board when I arrive. Any one got any suggestions? Ive been looking into the capita stairmaster, K2 WWW and the forum youngblood.

Also does anyone know if the shops let you trial boards before you buy?

all those boards would be fine for a jibber. In mammoth though, you arent gonna want a jib only board, make sure to get a mid-size board that can do it all.

I've been riding GNU boards for a few years now... and they're awesome for all around riding. I used to ride the Riders Choice MTX and loved it. Now I ride the GNU DK Vertighoul BTX, and IMO it's perfect for all around riding.

The K2 and Forum are both good boards but for the kind of money you'll spend on either one you can get "more board for your buck" check out the Signal Park Series and Park Rocker. I have a Park Rocker that i ride on playful days when i'm just cruising, it's great for lapping the park and buttering around. I would also check out some of the stuff that Capita is putting out, their Flat-Kick rocker is super fun and easy to ride, even a park noodle with Flat-Kick can be a great all-around board that will float well in the soft stuff.

Both Capita and Signal are smaller companies, rider owned with awesome customer service so you can always rely on their warranty programs as compared to some of the bigger, so-called corporate brands that have a tendency to suck at customer service. I've heard horror stories of Forum's CS taking up to 3 months to replace defective gear. That means that by the time you get your replacements, you've missed half the season.

Just a thought... I personally like to support the little guy because I'm an entrepreneur at heart. Besides, Jake Burton has enough money, he doesn't need any of mine.

just letting you know that no shop is going to let you demo a board this early. just because they dont want them to get ruined on this thin sheet of snow. i've been riding the lib tech skate bannana for a year now i just got the 2010 one. gunna go ride it when the snow gets a bigger base. i recomend trying to demo from the mammoth demo shop, they have a pretty good selection and if you dont like the board you can trade anywhere on the mountain without leaving. the shops are at canyon,village rentals(upstairs),westin(downstairs) and canyon lodge.

I have a Ride Society, which is a great board does pretty well in the parks but was a little overpriced. This season I got a DC PBJ and it has a lot of pop and super flexy. I feel way more at home in the parks with it. Plus, its MSRP is only 350 compared to the rides 500, so a lot better value.

you are wrong, wave rave was demoing boards first day the mountain was open!

I used to have a Burton all mountain type board that I rode for about 200+ days, but wanted something super soft & parkie! I picked up the Burton X8. This thing is pretty incredible! It is pricy (but you can by last years model online for probably $400, and it has the ICS bindings!) It preforms in the park, and aside from being shorter than my normal board, it preforms all mountain (if you like to ride skate style).

Also, I have not seen a bad review of this board yet!

Also - I'd recommend you get a smaller board than your normal 'all mountain' board. In all mnt, I have a 157, but in the X8, I have a 155!
