CAMPING

Postby aerolix » Wed Jun 24, 2009 3:58 pm

Hello!

I will be biking in July, and would like to camp.

I will be arriving on the YARTS bus from Yosemite. Are there any campgrounds close by - i.e. walking distance or shuttle bus access?

Thanks a lot! I'm having trouble finding this out! :worried:

I just got back from Mammoth. Stayed at twin lakes campground about 2 mi from the main Mammoth village. I think there was some campgrounds off 203 that might be closer. Another option is reds meadow. Take shuttle from main lift at Mammoth. It will require a "transfer" from Yosemite shuttle to the bus, but no add'l hiking should be required.

Shady Rest Campgrounds would be closest and in walking distance to where the YARTS bus drops off in town near the Shilo Inn.

Here is the Inyo National Forest website with campground information - just scroll down.

Were doing Camp High Sierra July 10-13. I always camp there. Its the best place I can think of. Been going the past 5 years. Great base mountain place and can bike right down to it from the trails
