Is Mammoth Finally Stepping Up Their Game?

Postby kingofthemountain82 » Tue Jun 02, 2009 3:30 pm

Okay... can someone set some things straigh please. In the bike park info section it talks about a new jump line ("before flowing into the new Kamikaze Jump Run") Is this gonna be like an A-line type deal or some crappy 2 foot double line like in twilight zone.
They also said something about more armored berms, wooden ramps and dirt jumps than ever before. They said that last year and well, i wasn't too impressed.
Finally, did they fix downtown so it's like it used to be where it actually goes down.
"Downtown is the right choice: this 5-mile trail starts at the Main Lodge, climbs ever so slightly for the first mile before turning into a gentle downhill."

Aside from my questions, i am excited that they have the shuttle going from the end of twilight zone, ricochet, seven bridges, etc... back to the main lodge. I hated riding all the way down when i didn't need to. Good Call Mammoth!

i'll believe it when i see it......the problem with a jump trail is you have to maintain it. They cant even maintain the velocity step up and thats one feature. There gonna hire kids who just moved to town for 8 bucks an hour who dont even own mountain bikes, but at least they have that cool new rhino so they can drive around looking like there gonna do something!....Typical Mammoth Lies!

I agree that the trails could use more maintaining sometimes, but you very obviously don't know any of the guys who work trail crew. They most definitely aren't "kids who just moved to town for 8 bucks an hour who dont even own mountain bikes."

This is so unoriginal. I could go to any MT resort town and take the topic of this thread and inject their name and still get a number of response. Just be happy already.

No - there's still at least 6 feet of snow up top.

No, I don't think we have ever been able to open with all the runs ready.

The 'jump run' they are talking about is the old x-zone when you make the turn where kamikazee and shock treatment end and where Bearing Straits meet. The trail is Super fun and a bit technical, but the 'jumps' havent been maintained in years. In fact, I think they actually flattened them a bit a couple seasons ago.
