The Cyclist's Thread!

Postby OzzyBuckeyeBluechip » Sun Apr 01, 2012 7:08 pm

I thought it was due time the cyclists on this forum had their own thread! Sure, the sledders do, the fisherman do, even the complainers do! Now it's time for the shaven-legged, and lycra-clad crew to have their thread!

'Tis the season where I'm starting to bring my bike with me for afternoon rides after morning ski sessions. Soon enough, hopefully I can get some trifecta days in (ski, bike, fish).

Does anyone know if the DVRSR or Everest Challenge climbs were open or passable - before yesterday's snow? (Waucoba Canyon, Glacier Lodge, Mosquito Flat, Pine Creek, South Lake)
He says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice. Carl Spackler

Wish I had the base miles to tackle that! My son is 12 and will be starting to race mountain bikes this summer. That means I'm going to be in the dirt more than I have in a while. Should be fun though.

Does anyone use Strava? I was always skeptical, but started using it a few weeks ago. It's really cool! It's been great to find new mountain bike trails near our place.

Haha Strava. Yep I use it: http://app.strava.com/athletes/248174

Mainly just shows me how slow I actually am.

It can be humbling, for sure. I use it as motivation. If my buddies are out riding during the day in the middle of the week, it does irritate me though! :@

I'm on Strava. Got nothing on it though. I don't want everyone to know how slow I am.

Volunteered on the Mulholland Double on Saturday. Amazing how chipper the riders are at 30 miles compared to the way they are at 160 miles.

One of the treats is helping the riders bringing up the rear ... and the view from the top of Piuma at night.

Thanks for the encouragement! Not sure how I managed to get so many PRs that day since it was crazy busy.

Caltrans closed the lower gate for next to nothing of a shoulder repair between Tioga Lk. and the entrance gate. Rediculous! I have some very choice words for the crew. So, that being said, I began my ride with a 3K ft. climb. Oh joy. Made it to Olmstead Pt. and back.

Did the half century route of Tour Beneath the Peaks in Bishop today. I'm tired.
