Gonna try and ride my bike down there today. Being a Sunday maybe the crews will have the day off or be at half staff.

Who's in?

Rode from my place near Canyon to the Postpile and back. Only saw one person beyond the entrance gate. Very quiet. Thousands of trees down Wicked!

Sundays are the day to do it. I think the crews take the day off. I rode to Bishop yesterday so a little too tired to do it today.

OK OK already, jeez...

Great shots, GS. Glad you finally figured out how to post up pix! :D

I like the shot of the Minarets, Ritter and Banner over the top of your handlebars best.

Thanks for the pics! Mammoth sure looks wonderful. We're heading up for a few days next month.

After my last couple of summer visits to Mammoth, I'm beginning to enjoy Mammoth more in the summer than winter... it's WARM!

Of course, when the fall comes, I'm anticipating the first snow storm and hoping for lots of it!

Reds Meadow: No projected opening

Inyo National Forest – Wind Event Blowdown Clean-up Continues
in Reds Meadow Valley and Devils Postpile National Monument

Public access to Reds Meadow Valley is currently not allowed, including a prohibition on pedestrian and bicycle traffic. This is primarily due to public safety. Portions of some roads and trails are damaged to the point that even once they are cleared of down trees, they still pose a hazard to the public until they can be repaired. There is a lot of heavy equipment working in the Valley and on the road, and crews are working on the trails. The crews and equipment operators are working in hazardous areas where knowing the location of every person is essential to maintaining safety, for themselves and anyone else in the area. Visitors wandering around do not facilitate workers being able to do their jobs safely and efficiently. The public’s cooperation in this endeavor is greatly appreciated.
