nope I don't think so not any more. I worked with a guy in Bishop back in 82' that took his land cruiser up there. I haven't heard of anyone else going up there in a regular 4x since.

I know this thread kinda died off but I will be coming up for a hopefully permanent stay soon, I will be needing to get with you guys to know where some good off-roading spots are. I am sure there are tons of fire roads up there at least. Maybe by chance someone on here is a "Clamper"?

I was out last night about dusk and saw three of the biggest coyotes I’ve ever seen. Two were easily over 100lbs; the 3rd one was about 80 to 100lbs.

What happen next was right out of a freaky movie. The smallest of the three chased us down and attacked me while I was driving! I was on a steep rock road and there was no way I was going to out run it. It ran up beside my Polaris and attempted to bite me while I was driving. I’m glad I wasn’t alone as nobody would believe this story; but my girlfriend was with me and we both were blown away by the whole thing. It makes me think twice about even walking out to the garage at night.

The two big coyotes were easily the biggest coyotes I've ever seen. The whole thing was rather spooky.

Crazy. Goes to show, coyotes don't like the side-by's either.
I used to be with it, then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with, isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to yoooouuu.

Awesome! That makes me really excited! I am down south a bit and belong to Billy Holcomb 1065 so that is good news. I know I have met some of the Bodie chapter up in Bridgeport at the Rhino bar and grill.

Not sure why the coyotes would do that other than maybe people have been messing with them.

I have never had a problem with them, and they have more than once walked beside me and my dog in a stealthy manner.

I wouldn't want to be around the pack at night when they hunt the fields around Bishop.

It is creepy though and makes you wonder about animal behavior and how unpredictable they are.

Isn't that McGee Mtn. road closed or did they reopen it?

That is pretty crazy... The ones here in my mountains are maybe 70 pounds and super skittish. My chocolate lab and black lab keep them off the property.

Hey Dave, It turns out they were not coyotes. I tracked them down to a rural home where this guy tells me they’re hybrid wolves. He goes on to tell me he lets them roam to keep the mountain lions away (what an a-hole).
I went and visited the local animal control office where I was told if they’re truly hybrid wolves they are illegal in California. They went on to say they would check it out and would have to contact fish and game if they are hybrid wolves.

They really did look like wolves but didn't want to say that as everyone would have laughed at me and thought I was nut case. :x

That is even more scary than a pack of coyotes running around. Hybrid wolves are basically the same as real wolves. I can't tell the difference. That needs to be stopped before some kid or innocent person gets hurt.
