Hey, that's just what the gestapo did. I like the silence part. That would work real good in my neighborhood.

Feel free to check out this video I made of a 4x4 trip out side of the Lone Pine area. This was a 4x4 trip up to the Saline Valley Salt Tram and Cerro Gordo with a camping/4x4/beer drinking/western history club I belong too.

Shot with a GoPro suction cup mount on the hood of a Toyota Tundra.

I'm thinking about making a run up Coyote Flats next weekend...anyone know how clear the road is/how much snow is left?

Thanks.

What are some awesome, easier trails around here? (mammoth) Something a full size long wheel base truck can meander down with a nice payoff at the end...

I'd love to know too...I don't have anything crazy in terms of an off road machine- pretty stock 4x4 Tundra...hoping coyote flats is tame enough to get me and my son into some nice territory.

The Coyote Road is wide open.

It would be my choice of the first place to go. I walk my dog by the staging area at the power station all the time, and I see very few people going into Coyote. Only during hunting season in the fall is there a lot of people up there. Even then it is not that many.

Coyote is one of the most fantastic areas around still open to OHV. I have gotten so far back in there hiking without even seeing a road. I have only scratched the surface of Coyote and have had so many incredible adventures. It is the real deal!

Thanks Windy. Pretty tame all the way to Baker? I've heard that VW buses have been known to make it?

A lot of guys go up there in Rhino type vehicles and dirt bikes. I never made it too far and have to get out and start hiking. It is quite an adventure. Have fun out there. If you see a guy walking a little one eyed Springer Spaniel-honk!

I was further up the road today at the Lindner Mine. It would not surprise me that you could drive to that location right now from Coyote Flat. Once you get up in there, roads link all the different areas and canyons.

There is so much to explore just in that one range, I can't begin to tell you.

It is plenty rugged, too!

Thanks Windy, any other tame roads that are super awesome in the immediate area?

The Coyote Flats I'm aware of is out of Bishop.

And if by "town" you do indeed mean Bishop, many sites in the Google links below can show you the way.
