I've seen this before. I don't know what is more unbelievable..that the dude managed to totally screw the pooch at the top by trying to ride rock instead of snow, or that he waits for his sled to catch up to him in the Coulior thinking "hmm...1500lbs in a 40degree coulior? Yeah...I can stop it!" He's so lucky he didnt' get killed or maimed by his sled...

Not necessary, there is a super easy entrance from the top. We’ll talk.....

It's a sled not a VW Bug.

He was factoring force and acceleration.

400# * 10mph * 40°
I used to be with it, then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with, isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to yoooouuu.

All you got out of that post was my incorrect citation of the sled's weight? It's physics, not a snow machine IQ test.

Yep that chute has been scoped from the top, bottom and the vantage point in the pic. Its ripe for the taking but just need some fresh to make it go down. Too much snow could make it a little more adventurous.

What I got out of it is you must not have much, if any, experience on sleds. Not a jab at you but if you've never been in that position you shouldn't pass judgement. I have totaled sleds doing the similar things and you do whatever it takes to stop your 10k plus dollar machine from getting wrecked. Sure you could not put yourself in that position but what's the fun in that?

^ Fair enough. I think he was lucky it didn't kill him and I've been taught to gtfo of the way of things that can kill me, but you're right. I didn't have 10k invested.

Still though...they were tracking up a perfectly skiiable line :P

Come on Bob, this is a backcountry ski thread. I was thinking the same thing followed by, well maybe he had that coming...

It's too completely different uses of a wilderness area. Some folks go outback to get away from all that, others bring it with them. I think that's what sometimes makes it difficult for sledders and b/c riders to see eye to eye.

MP and I had an interesting experience last season in Utah with some sledders. Just the mad world we live in I guess.
