Wow, this turned into quite the thread. Anyway, solid info seasoned with a little attitude is fine by me. A little insider knowledge, as opposed to the canned info from the info line is what I was looking for. I'm about as 180 from the Mt. High crowd as one can be, so no worries about me thugging up the lift lines. I'm all too familiar with Howard's website from my fishing/backpacing exploits too. So, sounds like parking at the main lodge, or as close as possible, is probably my best bet for my first time, and getting my bearings and such. Again, thanks all.

Sorry BT, didn't mean to take it personal. Still pissed at getting a leash ticket for my brothers dog yesterday.

The only advantage that chair 2 parking has over the Main Lodge parking is far less walking... something to consider if in ski boots...

I get there early enough to ski right to the back of my truck where I keep my sack lunch and ice chest full of beer

1.You can park anywhere at the resort if youre there before 9:00am. Even if you get there later you can still park. You can always park. Anytime... you justmight have to walk 4 minutes god forbid.

2.Motel 6 is close to everything right near a shuttle if you want to bus it to the resort.

Thats all you need to know.

I know it might not be open on the 21st, but am I the only person who likes to park at the bottom of 4?

My pleasure; welcome to the club.
I think you’re gonna be in for a treat. Unsettled weather next week through your scheduled dates. Chair 2 (Mill) should open very soon made possible with natural and man made. They should be blowing snow like crazy this weekend (coldest temps thus far this season) to get that area up and running…to be supplemented with next week’s storms. Yes, you can but you lift tkt at the base of ch2.

Nov 18-22 should see some natural …a foot or more is my guess. Make sure you understand winter driving in case you don’t. If it does dump then you may want to consider taking the shuttle…depends on what you got. Weather forecast as you know is always subject to change, just be prepared for the worse. Good luck.

ps Eagle and Canyon Lodge will not be open that weekend regardless of how much snow has fallen.

Yeah, looking promising. Haven't driven in heavy snow in a minute, but a lot back in the day. In a new Subaru Outback which should do nicely, though owner's manual says don't use chains. Hrrrmm. Staying at Econo Lodge, so shuttle will be an option should it be necessary. Regardless, looking forward to making some turns in a week.

Duly noted. Besides, if I'm ever sketched out by a pitch, I just slide all the way to the bottom on my heel edge. Cool? ;)

Your geek friends were a little slow on forecasting the “dump.”
I’m a geek eh???

Yeah looking promising. Your Subaru is fine-you will never have to puts chains* ... but bring it if you have it just in case since it is the law. Snow level starts off at 7k Friday afternoon then lowering to 4500k on Friday night/Sat morning. Probably some lite snow accumulation on the road Sat morning after the Sherwin grade…go slow and give plenty of space between you and, most likely, the idiot in front of you.

Exit the 203; Drive past all the morons putting their chains on under R1. Winter wonderland once you’ve reached town. Drive straight to the Main Lodge so that you get some experience. Brown bag it the first day and stock up your cooler. Snow should end on your drive up Sat morning. Hopefully Sat nite BJ won’t screw it up too much for Sunday.

PM me if you want discounted lift tickets for that weekend.

Ps, they haven’t opened chair 2 so maybe they’ll open it this weekend.

*awd and 4x4 follow the manual concerning chains
