Level 1 Avalanche Class - Southern CA (March 5,7 classroom a

The final Level 1 Avalanche course for the season is being offered in Southern CA on March 5 & 7 and March 9th & 10th. The class will consist of two nights of classroom lectures on March 5th and 7th from 6:00-10:00pm in Claremont with the field sessions being held at Mt. Baldy or Mtn High East (Government Canyon) on March 9th and 10th from 8:00am - 4:00pm. The cost for the entire class is $165. There should be a course on how to use crampons and ice axes if they go up to Baldy for "in the field" workshop.

If the snow is too hard for beacon practice, can you do it on the beach ?

I used to be with it, then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with, isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me. It'll happen to yoooouuu.

just noticed that the course is titled "Avalanche Level 1 for the Professional Rescuer"

i'm just looking to take an av1 course for backcountry trips with friends- is there a different course for nonprofessionals?

This course is designed for backcountry skiers as well as ski patrollers. The last two hours of the field session on Sunday will be focused on a full Organized Rescue. Many of the rescue details transfer over to a group rescue in the Backcountry. I hope this helps.
