So with the Dog’s Life Krew members running thin due to the conditions and our captain being 3200 miles away, we agreed that a sacrifice was needed. hkyfsh and I decided that today was the the day to take down the unnamed rock chute in the Hippy Lake Basin out of Hippy Lake & then ski the Hippy Slide back to the car in honor of Highanxiety (who we know would be proud of us). The recent storms coupled with the colder temps have made for some epic BC conditions, and today was no different, knee
deep blower up high and boot deep pow down low (ya, I said knee deep).
It took us 6hrs car to car and 4.5hrs of climbing in all, we had to transition twice but we were able to descend 3000 vertical feet of chutes right to the back of the car on 158. There was A LOT of cursing and two steps forward, one step back type of shi t but we kept our kool like true professionals, this is our story.
It went well to say the least....
Many of my days have started out like this, climbing to the goods.
Things like this are why I spend most of my time climbing in the woods, what the hell happened here. Super cool...
Alright, enough fluff, here we go. hkyfsh staring down his fate.
Here we go, hkyfsh killing it
Looking down @ hkyfsh
Getting to the dogleg right and the exit of the chute, still knee deep.
This is it, the last of the 1000’ chute.
to be continued…..
