What do these gates do??

At the top of 22 I noticed these big gates....I need some education...thanks

I have often wondered this myself. It must have something to do with the wind as they are only up on calm days.

They are virgin detectors. Whenever a virgin passes under the gates, they will fall, trapping the person and patrol can have their way with them.

JK. Yes, they're mechanical snow fences, to help prevent the snow from getting blown away. They will actually collect snow, they get lifted up and the cats can then push it around.

Spook is one of the worst wind scowered areas on the mountain. They need to collect every flake they can to push down over that area.
