Chile's premier mountain resort

That's a matter of opinion. Not mine.

With questionable lift placement my first reaction was, "Never have I seen so little made from so much." A new lift is going in this year that will extend lift access down a bit, though I suspect not as much as needed to put a lot of interesting terrain coming from El Colorado into play without a car shuttle.

Valle Nevado is fairly aggressive and flexible in pushing lift/lodging packages, so I suspect the actual $ to be gained by the MVP may not be so much.

After my 2007 trip I wrote a feature on the ski areas accessible from Santiago:

Your opinion may vary. Skibum4ever and spouse were at Valle Nevado in a different season and liked it much more than I did.

I think I'd like the red runs the best.

So how does one take advantage of this offer? Also what's the best month to go in Chile to get the most chances of powder?

Valle Nevado is a very fun resort. We went in August the snow was great, the locals just don't go off piste(so the pow is everywhere) and they love Pisco Sour's.... Be ready for tow ropes since all the good area's have them. The way the 3 resorts are connect is also pretty cool. The roads are one way and dirt(dirt on ice is nice). When we went the road was one way from 6am - 12 up - 1pm - 6pm down. Not many americans also.

The surface lifts are a PITA, but the fun of skiing in the summer overwhelms most of the complaints.
