Yup...rooms in bishop are very high$$ this weekend compared to mammoth. Was looking at Friday night (camping north the rest), & the vagabond inn in bishop was almost $200! We'll b in mammoth friday night, at a nicer spot for nearly half that.

I was hoping to car camp a few hours at Pleasant Valley Saturday night (a county park a few miles up from Bishop), but that might be filled.

The county parks are the way to go on holiday weekends. If yer willin to drive a bit further, this one's not bad:

And I've always had a fondness for the one just outside Independence's city limit.

Lol ... that one outside of town is an "any port in a storm" sort of campground. I'd do Grays Meadow instead.

BTW, with regard to that "fondness" I spoke of ... I think that might be the memory of the town locals honking their way through camp early one morning. Imagine that ... wanting to make sure we were up good and early for the good fishing. Now that's hospitality.

I don't think you will want to be out on the hill that early THIS weekend. The low Friday night is expected to be 20 with high on Saturday of 32.

Don't worry about the mountain weather. You can all go to Bishop and ride bikes. Biker395 is on his way with all his bikes in case anybody wants to ride with him.
