I appreciate the advice, but it's nothing I haven't heard before from
MY ORTHOPOD. Of course I have gone to our
great S.P.O.R.T. clinic here (heck, I live right across the street!), had the MRI's, taken the meds, use the supplements, had the cortisone shots, done the PT and continue those PT exercises at home. My left knee has arthritis, cartilage deterioration with a tiny Baker's cyst in the back of the knee and my right knee is essentially bone-on-bone. My doctor has told me that there would no guarantee that surgery would alleviate any of my symptoms and he won't even consider knee replacements until I'm 60.
I keep active by walking or riding my bike almost daily in the spring, summer and fall and ski as long as I can until it's too painful in the winter and spring. I can still fit into my ski pants every year, so weight isn't a problem.
So, I shall sign off to all you armchair doctors with a *
whinny* and a *
snicker*.
