June's opening sooner than the 19th?

Postby lottak » Mon Nov 09, 2009 4:16 pm

Hey.
If any of you follow June on Facebook, their recent status says "Only 40 days until we OPEN!!! Yipeee!", but then someone name Jordan Haun with a june mountain profile pic commented "make that 9"... does anyone know if june is, in fact, going to be open in 9 days? that would be AWESOME!!

How could they? There isn't enough snow or business for that to make any sense. :-?

Both June Mountain's home page, their December events page and MMSA's December events page all indicate the scheduled 12/19 opener.

Yes. And with the contract/deal with the forest, they can't open earlier unless they have permission from the forest. As SL said, I don't believe they have held their snow. :(
-Chairs 5, 12, and 25 are the best.
-I don't care how much you argue, the chair 14 outpost is never open.
-June Mountain is the suxiest ski area in the world, you should never go there.

They still have some snow up top. I walked across the runs today. There is no snow below the bottom of J7.

Maybe they meant 9 days till fishing season closes. Nov. 15th.

No, there is a trail that starts across from the Fire Dept. and comes out onto one of the runs and then continues on the other side. You end up after a 7 mile hike at the trail head about 2 miles past the resort.
