The holidays were kind to the community of June Lake and locals are hoping the trend continues.

Re: June Mountain:

The Sheet also obtained a copy of the cover letter, which MMSA CEO Rusty Gregory sent to the Forest Service with the 2012-13 non-operational plan on Oct. 15, 2012. In it, Gregory stated, “Second, you have asked for a list of actions and a schedule by which MMSA intends to plan for the reopening of JMSA. In response, we want to clearly state that we intend to operate JMSA as a ski area open for public use during Winter 2013-14. There are no financing contingencies, and there is no precondition of securing any long-term entitlements. We intend to begin operations in mid-December, as has been the historical practice, and we intend to operate a typical season (generally through mid-April.”

On that note, didn't squaw sell for only a few mil more? Seems like a bit much for a non upscale resort with a much needed facelift to actually break into the black

Whistler just announced two new chairs for next season $18,000,000. 14 still seems a wee bit steep for June.

Whistler Mountain’s Harmony high-speed quad chairlift will be replaced with a new Doppelmayr high-speed detachable six-pack chairlift capable of transporting six people on each chair. Blackcomb Mountain will see a lift enhancement with a high-speed quad chairlift going into a new area in the Crystal Zone, currently accessed by a fixed-grip triple chair. The name of this exciting new quad chairlift will be determined through a competition to be announced by Whistler Blackcomb later this winter.

This article from 2010 doesn't give the sale price for Squaw but says the new owners had promised $50 million in upgrades over the next 5 years:

If June Mtn is for sale I hope there's a similar agreement to do some upgrades. IMO it's needed to make June Mtn viable although I think that will be tricky competing against Mammoth instead of being a part of it.

Vail Resorts bought Northstar a few years ago for $63 million.

A trip to several ski resorts in Vermont in late February is the latest item to be placed on the June Lake community’s plate.

Lame idea...east coast ski areas are very close to major population areas.June isnt.The permitting process is completely different. California is a heavily regulated state[eco laws] .. the sNow is different, State and local governments are different..They could save a lot of money and just go down to Mt High......they seem to stay open...some yrs w/ no natural snowfall. Nothing realy 'peerlike' in a east coast ski area.....A waste.

If I do not make Whistler next year( very good chance on that), I will be going to June Mountain.
