Seasonal Worker Starting Dec 10th

Postby vannguyen » Wed Oct 26, 2011 2:22 pm

Just wanted to introduce myself! My name's Van. I think I'll be working in rentals, but I'm not sure yet. Coming from Louisiana, so it'll be exciting to meet new people and board more than once a year! Hahha

Whats up guys. I'm Jake moving from South Carolina. Will be working with the MM Race Dept, sounds like a pretty sweet job. I will be getting to Mammoth around the 17th an starting work a few days later. Getting super excited. Can't wait to get out ski an meet some new people. Tim, I originally looked into instructing but it seemed all the jobs were filled an I landed one with the race dept, so I am going to see what its all about. Will be staying in employee housing, quiet interested to see what its gonna be like.

Nice to meet you both! I'm definitely staying in employee housing. I've heard mixed reviews about it, but it can't be too bad if you can get along with people and have a good personality.

Have either of you worked at a ski resort and/or Mammoth before? I assume yes because you both talked about instructing. I don't know what to expect because I've never worked at a resort before, and I've only snowboarded a total of 14 days in my life hahha. Here's to a hell of a good time!

You are kidding right? I mean you were hired as a full time instructor and you have only been on your board a total of 14 times? You are just kidding?

scskier that Mammoth race job sounds awesome!! you must be a pretty experienced skier?

yeh van I have boarded at Mammoth before, it is an insane mountain. I havent worked at a resort before but I spent 5 weeks just boarding at an Australian resort last year, its the best lifestyle.

And its meant to be another la nina year this year, which means heaps of snow for western usa, fingers crossed....

sure some people dont like employee housing but as long as you are up for a good time and willing to have a bit of fun its fine. And its a great way to meet new people!

Have any of you guys been to mammoth before? It will be good to know someone before we all get there!

Yea I have skied quite a bit in my life. Was into racing during my teenage years. I skied mostly at, an for Sugar Mountain, its in NC. I'm hoping the job is gonna be what I expect, I mean how bad could it possibly be. I am mostly moving just for the experience, I think its gonna be one of a lifetime. I am super excited for all the skiing mammoth offers, really looking fwd to powder skiing, BC, an all that. Never really had the opportunity being from the south. I've skied out west a few times Tahoe twice, and Colorado twice, however I think Mammoth is gonna offer more of what I am looking for. 10 days an I'll be in Mammoth, cant wait to kick back, ski, an meet some new people.
