Lifties.....2011.2012

Postby phageman » Tue Jul 19, 2011 11:00 am

Hey I'm Ryan and was just hired for the 2011/2012 season as a Liftie! I read through a lot of other past posts. Just seeing if there is anyone else out there that will be working with me. I will be up Dec. 14ish (after finals).

Look forward to meeting a bunch of people and having some fun on the mountain. Never worked at a resort before. Been to mammoth many times though and am familiar with Mammoth, so that's helpful I think. :?:

Excited. Hell yes.

Are you guys getting full time work? Just wondering,....

See you up there Fernanda.

As far as I know we are getting full time seasonal work, but from what I read on here it really varies depending on the crowds and needs of MMSA. Just from what I read.

i was a lifty for the past 2 years and may becoming back for a third... lift crew is a fun department to work in. the people all usually have fun together. be ready to be working in the cold and snow cause that doesn't get you out of work... lift crew also works hard and plays hard outside of work. you get ride breaks on the clock if the day is moderate with guest. they have pretty strict rules on the mountain for your appearance and will act on it if not to par (personal appearance requirements). if you stay till the lifty party they have huge giveouts such as trips to tahoe and snowboard and ski stuff.

name is jason if i come back i will be working out of canyon lodge

I would like to but I have no place to live and no money to get myself out there and settled in. Plus, the 30-35 hours a week thing last season kind made me lose money, lol.

I am going to be super pissed if it snows like last season and I am not there, through.

Don't know what I'll end up doing, but I need a damn job already! Anybody with some insight know what a good job working for the mountain would be? I need about 20 hours a week and I'm doing full time at Cerro Coso.

Sup Ryan, welcome to the MMSA family. I was a lifty for the 09/10 season and ended up making a bunch of training materials for them so if during training they show you some lame a** instructional videos, that's me. I teach now but sometimes in early or late season when there's no teaching work I still work lifts, so I might work with you and I'll definitely see you. Being a lifty is pretty much the easiest job on the mountain, you just have to be nice, make sure no one falls off the lift, and give people bad directions to Eagle lodge from chair 1 at 3:55.

Don't expect to make much money. Expect to keep even less if you're in employee housing. If you live in employee housing get out. In fact go over to the housing forum right now and start looking for something.
Don't do it in the park.
