I doubt we'll see any new lifts this summer and maybe not for a couple of more years. Banks just aren't lending right now and companies would be foolish to take on additional debt.
This is a great season to be skiing locally!!! I decided to investigate Snow Valley taking advantage of the $17 St. Patrick's Day ticket today. The only thing was, the 330 is shut down so they can do some erosion control and the 18 is the detour. *** Whooeee, I have never driven that before and Rim of the World is right. Some of the annoyance of the long detour was taken away by those incredible views. At one point on the drive on the flatland, I could see Mt. Baldy, San Gorgonio and San Jacinto all plastered with a lot of snow. It may be melting at lower elevations but above 6500 the snowpack is still abundant.

I thought SV's snowcover would be thin but it was quite thick.
Okay, so today was demo day. I didn't want to start a new thread, so this may be a bit off topic. I kinda like to get down in the weeds on this stuff, so I hope it helps someone. As it turns out, I demo'd three boards that Goodride had posted links to. My main goal was to try rocker/camber boards, as that's the new tech that's getting the most attention. My opinion is going to be affected by the fact that I've been riding a BTX board (LIb TRS 159) since last February. I rode each on a combo of conditions from flat out groomers to some hacked bumps and steeper sections to sun softened snow. No powder, hence the off topic issue. That said, I'm sure all of these would kick tradtional camber's ass in the pow.

Never Summer Premier F1 159. Rode this first and admittedly the conditions were super firm for the first 1.5 hrs. Since it's an all mountain freeride board, it's pretty stiff, and feels very damp. That said, it's super solid at speed, as I expected. To me it felt almost like a cambered...
Statistics : Posted by PE395 • on Thu Feb 25, 2010 8:31 am • Replies 36 • Views 653
